Voltpost has been selected by the District of Columbia Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) as one of three recipients of a new grant, positioning the company to install and operate publicly accessible Level 2 electric vehicle charging infrastructure at and near District-owned sites throughout the city.
DOEE awarded a combined $609,500 through the Public EV Charging grant program to three companies, including Voltpost. The grant funding will support the installation of curbside pole-mounted EV charging stations—bringing convenient, publicly accessible charging to neighborhoods across the District.
The award comes as electric vehicle adoption in the District continues to surge. EV registrations reached 20% of all new registered vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2025, ranking the District first in the nation ahead of all US states. With demand for public charging growing alongside EV ownership, Voltpost's infrastructure will provide critical support for EV drivers.
"We are thrilled to bring Voltpost's retrofit charging platform to the nation's capital,” said Jeffrey Prosserman, CEO & Co-Founder of Voltpost. “Expanding charging access is critical to accelerating EV adoption, and through this collaboration with DOEE, we will install public charging infrastructure for District residents both curbside and in parking lots. This charging project progresses vital clean transportation goals, and we are grateful to the DC Government for their vision and leadership."
Voltpost's participation is part of a broader District effort to build out EV charging infrastructure citywide. Parallel initiatives by DOEE and District Department of Transportation (DDOT) include a $9.6 million grant for fast charging stations near major interstate corridors, a Neighborhood Curbside EV Charging Station Pilot rolling out across all eight wards, and a $1 million multifamily building charging assistance program — together forming one of the most comprehensive urban EV charging buildouts in the country.
