Help & FAQs

Whether you already own an electric vehicle or are simply interested in learning more, this page is here to address all your electric vehicle questions.

Uncover the answers to our most frequently answered questions about EV charging, our product, and the Voltpost network.

Charging

You can find all our charging stations on the Voltpost mobile app.

Charging time depends on the vehicle battery size. A typical EV using a Voltpost Level 2 charger takes around 6-10 hours to charge from empty.

Starting a session with a Voltpost charger is easy once you have created a Voltpost account and downloaded the Voltpost mobile app. Using the Voltpost app, simply select the charging station you are looking to activate, press Start Charging, and plug the connector into your vehicle.

Voltpost chargers are compatible with every electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid in North America. Tesla vehicles must use the OEM’s provided adaptor.

As a guest (without a Voltpost account), you can view charging stations on the map. Once you have located a charging station, you can register an account and start charging.

In many cases, charging errors are temporary and can be resolved by stopping and restarting your session. Here's what to do:

If the charging error has not ended your session, manually end your charging session by pressing "End Charging Session" in the mobile app. Unplug the charging cable from your vehicle. If necessary, unlock your electric vehicle before unplugging the charging cable. Reconnect the charging cable and start a new charging session. If the error persists, we suggest moving to another charger and reporting the issue by calling the Customer Support number located above the charger screen.

For more detailed instructions on how to charge, visit our charging guide.

There are two charging ports at each Voltpost charger that can be used simultaneously to maximize charger availability.

You can use the Voltpost app to check the status of your charging session. Download the Voltpost app here.

To end the charging session, press the “End Charging Session” button on the Voltpost application.

In colder temperatures, an EV’s software typically lowers the charging power it accepts. When temperatures are colder, it’s important to plan ahead for longer charge times.

Payment & Membership

Pricing for charging events depends on your location. Check the Voltpost mobile app for prices at a specific charging station.

Payments via mobile app are accepted at all Voltpost charging stations. We accept major credit and debit cards.

Depending on your location, you pay to charge either by the kWh or by the minute. In per-minute locations, the maximum amount of power your vehicle can accept (which your vehicle communicates to the charger at the beginning of your charging session) determines your power level and price.
